Weekend Doctor: Self-breast awareness

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the world today. Self-breast education and awareness for the public are crucial for each and every one of us in our own personal health. As we go through different phases of life, our bodies are constantly evolving. For all individuals, it should be a key principle to be self-aware of one’s breast health. By being self-aware, we should be able to observe any change that may occur. Noticing any abnormal changes could lead to earlier breast cancer detection. Self-awareness is one of the keys to early detection of breast cancer, as well as self-breast exams, clinical breast exams, and screening mammograms. Detecting breast cancer early often leads to a better prognosis.

Colleges of Distinction guide includes Bluffton University

For the fifth year in a row Bluffton University has been recognized by Colleges of Distinction for its commitment to providing a high-quality undergraduate education which focuses on hands-on learning, strong student-teacher relationships, a vibrant campus life and successful outcomes.

The guide for college-bound students named Bluffton a 2024-25 College of Distinction, Ohio College of Distinction and Christian College of Distinction. Bluffton’s business and education departments have also been recognized as leading programs of distinction.

August 10 event to raise funds for Dominic Francis Memorial scholarships

On Saturday, August 10, the first annual Dominic Francis Memorial Bike and Jeep Run will take place, starting the Bluffton Fallen Officer Monument, 154 N. Main St. and ending at the Findlay Moose Lodge #698, 1028 W Main Cross St #2421. Stops will be made at Thirsty's and Stockyard.

The cost is $25/bike or jeep, $5/rider. Registration includes a meal at the end of the ride. There will also be a 50/50 and raffle items.

Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and kick stands go up at noon.
