Can't file your taxes by April 15?

The Internal Revenue Service today reminded taxpayers that quick and easy solutions are available if they can’t file their returns or pay their taxes on time, and they can even request relief online.

Either way, taxpayers will avoid stiff penalties if they file either a regular income tax return or a request for a tax-filing extension by this year’s April 15 deadline.

Taxpayers should file, even if they can’t pay the full amount due. Here are further details on the options available.

Bluffton moves to 7-1 in the HCAC with sweep of Lions at MSJ

The Bluffton University softball team moved to 15-11 overall and 7-1 in the Heartland Conference with a crucial sweep of the Lions at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, April 6, 2013. The Beavers moved to 15-11 and 7-1 in the HCAC, taking over first place in the conference thanks to a Franklin sweep of previously undefeated Manchester University.

Jeff Parker wins javelin at Marv Frye Invitational

The Bluffton University Track and Field program traveled to the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University to compete in the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday, April 6. The meet was comprised of several Division II and Division III schools from around the area. The Beavers ended the day with several qualifying standards as well as personal bests.

Four public meetings to discuss May 7 school levy renewal

The Committee for Better Schools is announcing four upcoming community levy informational meetings which will be held on the following dates:
• Tuesday, April 23; at 7 p.m. 
• Tuesday, April 30; at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and
• Thursday, May 2; at 7 p.m..

All meetings will be held in the elementary library except for the 9 a.m. meeting on Tuesday, April 30, which will be held in the elementary school room 21.

These meetings concern the renewal of a one-half, percent income tax for permanent improvements, which will be on the ballot May 7.
