Meet Isabella Angel, BHS February student of the month

Hopes to attend Miami University and pursue biology and pre-med studies

Isabella Angel, a senior, is the Bluffton High School February student of the month.

She is involved in several school activities including flag corps, academic team, Art Club, National Honor Society and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions).

One of her art pieces was selected for a juried art show and she has also won multiple academic awards.

In her spare time she enjoys creating art projects, watching movies and hanging out with her friends. She is employed at Luke’s.

Cheryl Miller was retired from Cooper Tire

Cheryl A. Miller, 71, died March 8, 2021, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. Cheryl was born Aug. 14, 1949, in Bluffton to the late David and Bernice (Scott) Slane. On June 30, 1968, she married Dale A. Miller and he survives.

Cheryl graduated from Lafayette-Jackson High School, obtained her associate's degree from Owens Technical College and a bachelor's degree from the University of Findlay.

Lane restrictions on I-75 south around Beaverdam on Wednesday

Interstate 75 southbound, through the work zone at the village of Beaverdam, will have lane restrictions Wednesday, March 10, 7 a.m. to noon, for work in the median to seed and mulch.  

This is part of an on-going I-75 resurfacing and reconstruction project on Interstate 75 between Napoleon Road and State Route 235, just south of the village of Beaverdam to three miles north of the village of Bluffton through Summer 2021.

University men's soccer and baseball seasons underway

Men’s soccer
The Bluffton University men's soccer team battled conference heavyweight Rose-Hulman on a chilly Saturday, March 6, at Salzman Stadium. Kelly Takezo found the back of the net at the 3:50 mark and the Engineers held off Bluffton for a 1-0 victory. The Engineers stayed perfect at 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton fell to 0-2 and 0-2 in the HCAC with its second straight 1-0 heartbreaker.

Letter: Ohio Healthcare Plan (Act) awareness

Local residents will be out on the streets of Bluffton on 3-8-21 at 3:30 p.m. to raise awareness for the Ohio Healthcare Plan (Act) that Ohio Legislator Mike Skindell is co – sponsoring.

We will be encouraging people to “Honk for Healthcare” on International Women’s Day! Healthcare issues have become even more critical as 29 million people did not have healthcare insurance in 2019. In 2020, 30% of American workers lost their health insurance an half of them did not get it back.
