Taylor Schwab compiled seven kills, 15 digs and one block

But Patrick Henry wins in 3

HAMLER - Visiting Bluffton was beaten by Patrick Henry in three sets in a non-conference volleyball match Monday night.

The 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 loss dropped the Lady Pirate record to 11-7 overall.

Junior standout Taylor Schwab compiled seven kills, 15 digs and one block to lead the Pirates. Sophomore Kylie Stackhouse contributed seven kills and one block.

Sophomore setter Skyler Scoles doled out 20 assists, made one block and dealt a pair of aces. Haelynn Bischoff came up with 10 digs.

As Bluffton demolishes Paulding 10-0

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton girls soccer team scored five goals in each half to blow out visiting Paulding 10-0 Monday evening in a Northwest Conference mismatch.

The Lady Pirates improved to 8-4-1 and 4-1 against NWC foes with the win. Winless Pauling fell to 0-11 and 0-4 in league playw itht he defeat.

Bluffton's Kayla White netted a hat trick with goals in the first, 19th and 46th minutes.

Get on your tractor and ride

There were more tractors in Bluffton on Saturday than anywhere else in northwestern Ohio. The average age was, well, at the senior citizen level. The popular antique tractor show at Maple Crest is one of the features of the annual Bluffton Fall Festival. Additional tractors in part of this photo series.

Meet the BHS student of the month

Ana Neufeld Weaver plans to pursue music education

Ana Neufeld Weaver, a Bluffton High School senior, is the September student of the month.

She is a member of the BHS Academic team, Latin Club, Drama Club, National Honor Society, Chamber Choir, Show Choir, BHS Orchestra, and is in the Lima Area Youth Orchestra.

She attends First Mennonite Church in Bluffton where she is a member of their youth group, vocal choir and bell choir. She is also a member of  Girl Scout Troop 20643.

University runner gains top conference honors

 For the second time in three weeks, Bluffton University senior Alexis Cash (Gaines, MI/Lake Fenton) has been named the Heartland Conference Runner of the Week. Cash also took home Runner of the Week after a 10th place finish at the OWU invitational on September 14.

Cash had an impressive finish, placing 36th out of 125 Division III runners with a time of 24:42 on Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships.

Kalida girls nip Bluffton

BLUFFTON - The visiting Kalida girls soccer team edged Bluffton 2-1 Saturday afternoon in a non-league match.

The defeat dropped the Lady Pirate record to 7-4-1.

After a scoreless first half, Kalida tallied in the 52nd and 59th minutes to build a 2-0 lead.

Bluffton's Kayla White found the back of the net in the 73rd minute to halve the deficit.

Kalida put four of its six shots on goal. Bluffton got off 18 shots, 11 of which were on goal.
