Phyllis Suter was retired from teaching at Pandora-Gilboa

Phyllis M. Suter, 88, died Aug. 22, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  She was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Berne, Ind.. to the late Albert and Elma (Welty) Sprunger.  On June 18, 1950, she married Dwight Suter and he died March 7, 1997.

Mrs. Suter was an English and special education teacher for Pandora-Gilboa Schools. She was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. She was a graduate of Berne High School and Goshen College.

Pew: Internet now leading news source for Americans under 50

It's not exactly a surprise, but now we have data. According to the Pew Research Center's biennial media attitudes survey, the internet is now the leading source of national and international news for Americans under age 50.

Ohio Department of Education changing school report cards

Ohio is changing how it evaluates and communicates the academic performance of its schools and districts.

Schools and districts will no longer receive labels like “Excellent” or “Continuous Improvement.” In its place, they will receive letter grades on several measures in the same way a student receives grades for his or her classes.

Free Introduction to Entrepreneurship seminar in September

Start your business right.

Rhodes State College, Lima, will offer a free introductory seminar titled Introduction to Entrepreneurship from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19.

Kathy Keller, director of Small Business Development Center, will lead the seminar. She instructed Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition workshops, held earlier this year.

"Deck the Halls," and decorate your float for the Nov. 30 Blaze parade - it's not too soon to start planning

No, it's not too early.

Have you decided on a float idea or parade entry for the Saturday, Nov. 30, Blaze of Lights parade? This year's theme is "Deck the Halls."

This year's parade forms at 4 p.m. on Nov. 30 on Snider Road near the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool. The parade starts at 5 p.m. The route is from Snider Road, south on Main Street to East College Avenue. There it turns and proceeds to Triplett Drive where is concludes.

The parade is just one of several events planned for this year's Blaze. More details on other Blaze events are on the way.
