3 Pirates, relay place 4th at regional track meet

FOSTORIA __ Several Bluffton athletes competed in the Div. III regional track and field meet at Fostoria Wednesday and Friday.

Three Pirate individuals and a boys relay team finished fourth in their events to post the top Bluffton showings and qualify for the OHSAA state tournament.

Senior Theo Andreas crossed the line fourth in the 3200-meter run.

Junior sprinter Griffin Stackhouse took fourth in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman Nora Matthews captured fourth in the girls 800-meter run. 

The Bluffton boys 4x100 relay quartet also came in fourth place.

The Div. III state meet is May 30-June 1 at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium.

Memorial Day weekend 2024 news schedule

The Bluffton Icon has a holiday schedule for Memorial Day weekend 2024. New content will appear on Friday and, except for breaking news, pause until Tuesday morning. Newsgathering will continue through the weekend, including Bluffton High School graduation on Saturday evening and the Memorial Day parade and ceremonies at Maple Grove Cemetery on Monday.

Andrew D. Sommers worked for East of Chicago Pizza

Andrew D. Sommers, 38, passed away May 24, 2024 at his residence.  Andrew was born November 8, 1985 in Cincinnati to William and Diana (Shea) Sommers.

Committee of the Whole to meet before May 28 Regular Council meeting

The Village of Bluffton has announced a Committee of the Whole meeting at Bluffton Town Hall on Tuesday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m.

The May 22 meeting of the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools Board of Education included actionable items and a presentation by some of Bluffton Elementary’s third graders on their Little House on the Prairie projects.
