Hot dog!

Ellie Bergstrand, 10, and her brother, Josiah, 6, put mustard on their hot dogs during First National Bank's Firecracker Friday. Younger brother, Silas, 2, waited his turn in the wings. The bank served customers well over 225 free hot dogs on Friday.

Iconic Bakery: Annette Stuckey's Raspberry Buttermilk Pie

Annette Stuckey’s Raspberry Buttermilk Pie
Serves 8

1 1/2 cups buttermilk
3/4  cup sugar
1/2  cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1/4  cup all-purpose flour
5  large egg yolks
1  teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4  teaspoon kosher salt
9-inch basic flaky piecrust, parbaked
1/3  cup raspberry jam
1/4  cup toasted sliced almonds

A chocolate pecan pie won this year's Relay for Life pie-baking contest. 

Judges were: Jeff Stratton from Citizens National Bank, and Michael Donley, Bluffton Family Recreation sports coordinator and office manager. Their assignment covered 25 delicious homemade pies.

It's Bingo every night in July in Ada

FROM THE ADA ICON - Ada Bingo plays every Thursday at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada in July.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo begins at 6:55 p.m. Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages. Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club, Ada Music Boosters and the Ada-Liberty Volunteer Fire Department.

And, on the third Thursday of each month, the special Bonus Nights continue at Ada Bingo. These hugely popular Bingo Bonus Nights are held on the third Thursday of each month.

Bluffton Hospital sponsors outdoor movie "Toy Story" tonight in Ada

FROM ADA ICON - You can watch a free outdoor movie in Ada on Friday night.

That's right. And, Woody and Buzz Lightyear will be there.

The movie, Toy Story, will be shown on a 40-foot screen on the Ohio Northern University tundra. This is the second of three free outdoor summer movies sponsored by The Freed Center for the Performing Arts and Bluffton Hospital.

The movie starts at dusk. ReStore will sell pop, popcorn and candy during the movie. Families are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the movie under the stars.

Here's an overview of Swiss Community Historical Society's capital campaign

This week's gift to the Swiss Community Historial Society from Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio assists the Society's current capital campaign. Here is an overview of the Society's expansion plans.

The historical society’s expansion has three parts.

1 – Construction of a “heritage building.” The building, located at 8350 Bixel Road, will be constructed on the land of the 1840s Schumacher homestead. It will house local antiques, artifacts and archives of the society. It will have rooms for meetings and a children’s museum area.
