On thin ice

One of Bluffton's great blue heron's took a stroll on the Buckeye this morning. The Icon photographer attempted unsuccessfully to get a closer look, as you can see in the next photo. The big bird likes solitude. After it realized it was being photographed, it took off to the other bank of the Buckeye, giving us the cold shoulder. Click here for some previous photos of the heron.

Relying on a loyal book-loving volunteer staff, Danielle puts in about 10 hours a week at the downtown bookstore. Assisting her are Janie Wireman and Joyce Daniels, both assistant managers.

“We are always looking for volunteers,” she said. “The first requirement is that the volunteer must like books.”
