This summer has looked a lot different than other summers at Bluffton Public Library.
However, COVID-19 hasn’t ended the library’s commitment to programs and events that support education, access to resources, community, and entertainment.
The library staff partnered with many local Summer Program sponsors to provide these events digitally.

Bluffton native Chad Cupples, who served in Iraq with the 323rd Military Police Company, was awarded the Combat Action Badge in a ceremony on Aug. 5.
The presentation in Rep. Jim Jordan’s office, Lima, was made as a result of Cupples’ involvement in an engagement on May 27, 2003. He took direct small arms fire from enemy combatants as well as indirect rocket and mortar fire on several occasions.

Suter's Farm Market, aka the red barn on State Route 103, is a popular destination for seekers of sweet corn, melons, tomatoes and peaches this month.The red barn is open at 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday – while the daily supply lasts.

Here are the latest Bluffton council committee meetings planned, according to Kevin Nickel, village fiscal officer.
• Parks & Recreation Committee – Thursday, 8/13, noon via Zoom.
• Ordinance Committee - Tuesday, 8/18, 9 a.m. via Zoom.
• Personnel Committee – Wednesday, 8/19, noon via Zoom.
• Council Meeting – Monday, 8/24 at 7 p.m. at the town hall, masks required.

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton golf team hosted the eight-team, annual Pirate Invitational at the Bluffton Golf Course Friday.
The Pirates and Lima Central Catholic tied for first place with 330 strokes apiece. But the Thunderbirds won the tiebreaker with a better fifth man score, 90-95.
Kenny Lovett led the Pirates and won the event by two strokes with an 18-hole score of 37-37=74. Owen Knapp of Upper Sandusky finished second with a 37-39=76.
