Garden club holds Dec. 6 potluck

The Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will hold a Christmas potluck at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Bluffton Public Library.

Apollo Career Center holiday craft show Dec. 3

Apollo Career Center, 3325 Shawnee Road, Lima, will hold its 27th annual Christmas at Apollo Craft Show Saturday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is $3, children 12 and under are free. 

The proceeds from the craft show are divided among the Apollo student clubs to fund community service projects and assist students competing at state and national competitions. 

One of the largest shows in the region, Apollo Career Center hosts over 100 crafters selling home-made and hand-crafted wares.

Bluffton's oldest musical tradition - Handel's "Messiah" is Sunday

121st performance in Founders Hall

Bluffton University’s music department has announced the soloists for its 121st performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in Founders Hall.

Soloists are Leah Crane, soprano; Mitzi Westra, mezzo-soprano; Joseph Purifoy, tenor; and Mark Gilgallon, baritone. All four performers live in the Indianapolis area.

The end for this pond

This great blue herron will soon need to find a new Bluffton fishing hole. The village plans to fill in the pond located at the entrance of the village park. Bluffton council, on recommendation of the parks and recreation committee, voted to fill it in. The pond, which has no official name, was created in the 1960s when the overpass on County Line Road was constructed.

Meet Eli Bourassa, BHS November's student of the month

Bluffton senior is active in several school organizations

Eli Bourassa is November's Bluffton High School student of the month.

Eli is a senior at BHS and has a 3.821 grade point average. Eli is a member of the BHS marching, pep and concert bands and is the BHS band secretary. He attends St. John Mennonite Church and is involved in its youth group and worship team.
