Introducing the BHS class of 2021

The Bluffton High School graduating class of 2021 posed for a class picture during its commencement rehearsal on Friday morning. This year's commencement, originally planned for outdoors was moved to the high school gym due to weather. Watch the Icon next week for a list of future plans for class members. Commencement will be streamed live and the school will send out a link on Saturday.

Vaccinations available in Bluffton for those 12 and up

Offered to pediatric patients of Blanchard Valley Medical Practices

COVID-19 vaccinations are now being offered for pediatric patients of Blanchard Valley Medical Practices (BVMP) who are 12 years of age and older.

Beginning Thursday, June 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., clinics will be held at Bluffton Hospital for BVMP pediatric patients.

The vaccination clinics are only open to those who are (BVMP) pediatric patients. Vaccines will not be administered to any pediatric patients who do not meet the specific age guidelines.

Bluffton Hospital donates meals

To Bluffton Family Recreation's summer kid's camp

Bluffton Hospital, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS), has donated funds to provide meals to the Bluffton Family Recreation (BFR) 2021 Summer Kids’ Camp.

The meals will feed children ages 5-12 enrolled in their program, each week throughout the summer.

Children attending the camp will also receive a free gift of BVHS water bottles.

I-75 and U.S. 30 road projects may affect traffic patterns

The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Allen County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, no work is planned for Monday, May 31.

INTERSTATE 75 

Interstate 75 between Napoleon Road and state Route 235 just south of the village of Beaverdam to three miles north of the village of Bluffton, in Allen and Hancock counties, will experience lane restrictions and ramp closures for paving and reconstruction. Take a hike

Today was Bluffton second graders' turn to visit the Buckeye park. Here, a group of students take a hike around the quarry. Friday is the last day of school for Bluffton students.

Stanley Bohn was pastor of First Mennonite from 1968-1975

Celebration of life service live streamed on June 12

Stanley Bohn, who served as pastor of First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, from 1968 to 1975, died May 19, 2021 at Kidron-Bethel Health Care, North Newton, Kansas.

He was born on Aug. 23, 1930, to Nora Malinda (Lantz) Bohn and Ernest J. Bohn in Tiskilwa, Illinois.

Stan married Anita May Pannabecker on Sept. 6, 1952, shortly after they graduated from Bluffton College.
