University hosts employer expo

Event brings students and employers togther on campus

Dozens of Bluffton University students recently received job, interview and networking advice during the spring Employer Expo.

The semi-annual event brings students and employers together on campus. The first half of the event consisted of a panel of regional hiring managers and executive officers from Fortune 500 companies and major employers in west central Ohio including Marathon Petroleum, Speedway, Mercy Health St. Rita’s, ADP and Auto-Owners Insurance.

The panel fielded questions from students on topics ranging from organizational culture to internship opportunities. The second half of the event was comprised of a career fair and networking event.

“These kinds of events give students the opportunity to hone their professional presence,” said Shari Ayers, director of Bluffton’s Center for Career and Vocation.

“They often learn of specific openings in the area and real interviews arise for students out of these events. They also gain an insider’s knowledge of the kinds of things that recruiters are seeking and hoping to hear. Active participation in these events is an invaluable resource for students.”

Employer Expo is cosponsored by the Center for Career and Vocation and Bluffton University Business Leaders.
