Donald Augsburger was a 1952 graduate of Pandora High School

Donald D. Augsburger, 86, of Rawson, died at 2 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, due to pre-existing health issues not COVID.  

Don was a painter for 57 years. He was born to Lenoard and Ruth (Sommers) Augsburger on Sept. 25, 1934, in Pandora, Ohio. He graduated from Pandora High School in 1952. His first wife, Leona Ziegler Augsburger, survives in North Baltimore, and son, Mark (Brenda) Augsburger from Kentucky, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Stephanie (Jeremy) Williams, son Finn, Ashley Augsburger, daughter, Alexis and sons, Lindell and Alario and Scott Augsburger.

Don married Carol Ann Bowman, on Aug. 5, 1957, in Findlay. They were married nearly 62 years. She died on May 9, 2019. They had four children: Tamra L. (Harold E.) Parkins of Mt. Cory, 2 grandsons and 6 great-grandchildren.  Justin J. (Megan) Parkins, daughter Mazie and son, Cale. Joshua J. (Kelly) Parkins daughters Anna Laira Emma LaKyn.  Son Robin Leonard, Lana LeAnn, and infant boy all deceased.

Don is survived by his sister, Mary Ann (Gary) McCarty, of Santa Ana, California, and several nieces and nephews. His brother David D. Augsburger is deceased.

Don painted for Myers House of Color, Quinn Painting and retired from Freed Painting and his own painting business for years. He was a union member of local #788.  Don had served in the U.S. army.

There will be a memorial service at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30. Wear masks, social distancing and only attend if you feel safe. There will be a joint burial service for Don and Carol at Pleasant View Cemetery, Mt. Cory at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct full military rites at the cemetery. Feel free to come and stay in your car, away from people if you wish. Pastor David Clark will officiate.
