School threat assessed, Tip Line reminder

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District (Ohio) issued the following alert at 3:45 p.m. on December 20, 2021:

"This weekend, the district was notified of a threatening social media post which circulated briefly. After review by the local authorities, the post was deemed not a credible threat. Out of an abundance of caution, the middle school staff was briefed this morning, and police officers were present in the buildings today and will be tomorrow.

Bluffton Library Board organizational meeting on Jan. 4

The Board of Trustees of the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., will hold its annual organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2021. The purpose of the meeting is to elect officers, set the 2022 meeting schedule and approve temporary authorizations for 2022.  

Library board meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month in the library board room on the second floor. There are no meetings in July or December. Annual reorganizational meetings are held in January.

Lugibihl thanked for Board of Ed service, 2022 reorganization scheduled

At its Monday, December 13 meeting, the Bluffton Board of Education recognised the service of outgoing board member Ken Lugibihl. He was thanked for his 12 years of dedicated service to the Bluffton Exempted Village School District.

The board also approved president pro tempore Larry Hoffman and scheduled a reorganization meeting for 7:30 p.m. on January 12.

Council meeting announcement

The Village of Bluffton will hold a Regular Meeting of the Village Council at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Decebmer 27 on the third floor of Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

The December 13 meeting of the Bluffton village council was the first since acoustic panels were installed in their third floor chamber. Echoes were noticeably muted and made following the discussion much easier. As always, Mayor Richard Johnson led the proceedings.

Bluffton Schools submit 5-year financial forecast

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District has submitted a five-year financial forecast to the Ohio Department of Education as approved by the board of education in November 2021 (full report at Ohio Board of Education).

The report includes both data and notes providing the assumptions used for financial projections including revenue, expenditures and changes in fund balances for 2019-2026.
