Two of a kind

About 24 1/2 years ago, a baby girl was born. Well, probably a lot of baby girls were born at that time, but this one in particular made an impact on me...for a variety of reasons, not the least of which that she was my daughter.

Somewhere along the way, she developed an interest in music, dance, and created a repertoire of odd characters -- each with his or her own personality and accent. Daily, these individuals would wake us up in the morning or bid us goodnight. Throughout the day, they'd pop up at the least expected moment.

Bluffton Hospital expansion moving ahead!; groundbreaking April 8

Bluffton Hospital has made preparations to move forward with its planned facility expansion and renovation project.

Bluffton Hospital has chosen Charles Construction Services of Findlay as the general contractor for the project.

The project will create new, much needed space for Bluffton Hospital's emergency and surgery departments, as well as add professional/medical office space.

Little Red Barn and Deer Creek Shoppes working together to attract customers

Judy Bronson and Carol Phillips both operate their own shops on Main Street that are nearly across from each other. One might assume that the two women would be competing for business, but in fact, that is not the case at all.

After having a conversation this January, Carol and Judy decided to work together in an effort to benefit both businesses, an idea that has worked out well for both parties.

Estimates coming in on several village spring projects

Bluffton council received updates on several spring construction projects on March 8. Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, reviewed the projects with council.

He told council that he is seeking estimates next week for the Swiss Park Storm Drainage Phase II project. Three contractors have submitted bids. He said that he hopes to bring a recommendation to council on March 22.

Historic photos theme of Swiss Society March 21 program

"Value of Photographs as Historic Documents" heads the program of Swiss Community Historical Society of Pandora and Bluffton at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 21, in the Patio Room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Bluffton.

Lisa Wood, Curator for Visual Resources at the Ohio Historical Society at Columbus, will discuss identification of historic photographs; care and handling of historic photographs; and ways to use photographs for research, exhibits and programs.
