Pirate boys soccer clawed by Eagles

FINDLAY __ The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team fell behind early and lost 4-1 at powerhouse Liberty-Benton in a non-league match Tuesday evening, September 10.

The Pirate record dropped to 2-6 with the defeat. The Eagles improved to 7-1 after the win.

L-B led 2-1 at halftime and added two more goals after intermission to put the game out of reach.

Eagle ace Trevor Ferris found the back of the net just 80 seconds into the game, and L-B never trailed.

Dwain and Karyl (Sousley) Crawford celebrate 60 years of marriage

Dwain and Karyl (Sousley) Crawford are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married by the Reverend Dr. Ralph Quellhorst on September 12, 1964 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ Bluffton, Ohio.

The Crawford’s have two daughters: Lisa Crawford of Findlay, Ohio and Lori (John) Pletcher of Waynesfield, Ohio. They are the proud grandparents of two grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Pirates sweep Raiders; win streak reaches 8

HAVILAND __ The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team defeated Wayne Trace in straight sets to post a non-league win Monday evening, September 10.

The Pirates swept the Raiders 25-20, 25-20, 25-19.

The road victory improved the Pirate record to 9-1 this season. Bluffton has won eight consecutive matches since a loss to Shawnee August 19.

WT dropped to 4-4 after the defeat.

Kendall Stackhouse knocked down 11 kills to pace the Pirate hitting attack.

The Bluffton Schools are issuing an invitation to all who played on Harmon Field to attend the 100th anniversary of Harmon Field celebration on October 18 at the Bluffton vs. Allen-East football game.

Chamber to hear from Bluffton and Findlay university presidents

7:00 a.m. breakfast, 7:30 a.m. meeting on the 3rd floor of Bluffton Town Hall

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, September 13. The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Town Hall. This is the first meeting following a July-August summer break.

The meeting sponsor is Bluffton University and Greenhorn will be providing the breakfast.
