Bluffton school board will act on approving the 2014 Bluffton High School graduation list during its May meeting on Monday.

The list is in an attachment at the bottom of this story. In addition, in a separate attachment,  is the entire May 19 board agenda.

Other items on the agenda include:

Ross "Tinman" Scaggs plays a melody on his guitar during Jammin' at the Library. The group, open to all ages, is an "accoustic jam and community song circle," as Charlie Saylor, jam organizer, decribes it. Currently they meet at 6 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the Bluffton Public Library. Their meeting frequency may change to twice a month. Watch the Icon for more information.

Forty-five season ago, here's the Bluffton College men's tennis team. Back row from left, Randy Elston, Woody Little (coach), Dan Hostetler, Rich Miller, Stan Heintz, Ken Roth, Larry Faulk, Dick Geiger.

Front from left, Bob Fitzpatrick, Stefan Miller, Gary Brunson, Tim Hartzler, Bryan Godshall, John Lehman.

For Ivan Stoltzfus (right), it’s one mile at a time. Over the weekend Stoltzfus stopped in Bluffton on his cross-country journey to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Driving a reconditioned 1948 John Deer tractor, at about 15 miles per hour, and pulling a trailer, he is traveling from Manasquan, N.J. to Crescent City, Calif. Riding a bike and following the tractor-trailer is Dave Stoltzfus, (left) whose son is married to Rochelle, daughter of Lawrence and Louise Matthews.

Oral history may not be entirely true, but it makes a good story.

A couple years ago The Icon flirted with the waters of Bluffton oral history. Some claim we fell head-first into the National Quarry, while walking around it.

Either way, we surfaced with a lung full of stories placing them in a book. Appropriately called “A Good Place To Miss: Bluffton Stories 1900-1975,” it is now out of print.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will launch a “QR Code” project for its members next week. The initial project will start with members who have businesses on Main Street. The popular code offer businesses several benefits in the emerging social media era.

What is a QR Code?

QR is short for Quick Response (they can be read quickly by a cell phone). QR Codes can be seen in magazine advertisements, on billboards, a web page, business card and even on someone’s t-shirt.
