Chasse’s last day as director of the Bluffton Public Library was Saturday, although technically she retires on Dec. 21. She held the position since September 2009.

During Chasse’s four years as director, the Bluffton Public Library survived significant budget cuts from the state. To counter those cuts Chasse developed several fundraisers to create awareness of the library’s financial needs to its patrons.

Bluffton school board will act upon a renewal of a five-year tax levy during its December meeting on Monday.

The five-year levy was first passed in 1999, renewed in 2004 and again in 2009. The board anticipates it being placed on the May 6, 2014 ballot.

According to the resolution considered by the board on Monday:

The Swiss Community Historical Society is celebrating the Christmas season by hosting its annual holiday open house, “Christmas at the Homestead,” on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 1 to 7 p.m.

The public is invited to tour the decorated house while snacking on homemade treats and listening to songs of the season.

Attention kids: 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, in the First National Bank lobby. It's your last chance to talk with Santa Claus in Bluffton this season. Santa's visit is compliments of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.  Tell your parents that a photographer from Greg's Pharmacy will also be to take photos of you talking with Santa.
