Council street and finance committees discussing 2019

Bluffton council’s streets and finance committee spent an hour in late November reviewing a 2019 streets, lights, sidewalks and alleys budget.

Part of the discussion involved a review of a street maintenance inventory sheet and a 10-year capital improvement plan. While both were discussed, no decisions were made.

Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center has been recognized by both the State of Ohio and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for efforts in protecting the environment.

St. Rita’s was awarded the Ohio EPA’s 2018 Achievement Level for Encouraging Environmental Excellence. The award recognizes the medical center as a participant in the program and for completing environmentally beneficial activities including energy efficiency, recycling and resuse, mercury reduction, environmental preferable purchasing programs, medical waste reduction and water conservation.

Birchaven Village will host its annual Bazaar Days craft and bake sale Friday, Dec. 14 through Monday, Dec. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Birchaven’s indoor “Main Street,” at 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay. The event is open to the public.

Bazaar Days will feature a variety of items handmade by residents, staff, volunteers and families. Items for sale include:

According to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, November was almost 6 degrees cooler than normal. It was also wetter than normal.

Reservations available from The Inn at ONU

The Inn at ONU will present the zany Christmas comedy, “Sorry, Wrong Chimney,” as the feature of a dinner theatre on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 20 and 21.

The evening will begin with a buffet at 6:15 p.m. followed by the play at 7:30 p.m. There will be a dessert buffet during the show’s intermission.

Tickets are $45 per person. Reservations may be made by calling The Inn at 419-772-2500. 

The light-hearted comedy of characters full of mistaken identities was written by Leo W. Sears and Jack Sharkey.

Kaitlyn Clymer, Icon's BHS artist of the month

Kaitlyn Clymer is the Bluffton Icon's Bluffton High School artist of the month. She is a BHS senior and has taken the following art classes: Art One, Design, Design two, Photography, Advanced Photography, Mural.

"I get my love for art from another talented artist, my mom," she said.

"I think I enjoy it so much because the possibilities are endless of what you can make. I can create something in my head and make it into a physical copy for everyone to see, which is the wildest thing to me."
