There are several ways to watch a Bluffton High School football game. One way is to stand outside the stadium near the 20-yard line on the east side and hope the action heads toward the railroad - otherwise  there won't be much to see.

(SPENCERVILLE) - Bluffton's boys finished fourth at the Northwest Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday.  Columbus Grove won the meet with Lincolnview second. 

Tanner Pinks was the top Pirate runner, finishing the 3.1 mile course in 18th place at 18:39.

Bluffton Soccer Club donates $500 to school in memory of Bill Gaines

Bluffton school board will act on several supplemental contracts on Monday. Each one relates to winter sports coaching positions.

Other action includes offering a contract to Christy Garmatter as a long-term sub and adjusting Larry Diller’s bus contract from 7 hours to 5.5 hours per day. Twelve substitute teacher contracts will be considered as will a substitute educational contract and substitute custodian contract.

The board will also act to accept a $500 donation by the Bluffton Soccer Club in memorial of Bill Gaines.

She was a native of Pandora

Janice Marie Block of Thompson, Iowa, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.  Janice was born on a farm in Pandora, Ohio, on Feb. 20, 1927 to the parents of Daniel Lee Welty and Faery Manilla Welty (Balmer).

She graduated from Pandora High School as valedictorian of her class.  She completed a bachelor’s degree in biology at Bluffton College where she was also  May Queen.

GROB week is coming to BFR.

Bluffton Family Recreation is offering a free trial week for all employees of GROB Systems later this month, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

During the week of Monday, Oct. 22, through Sunday, Oct. 28, all GROB employees will be able to attend any BFR class or use any BFR service at no charge.

All that is required is for the participants to show a GROB identification.

Tickets on sale for early November production

Bluffton University will present “Helen” by Ellen McLaughlin, a contemporary adaption of the ancient Greek play by Euripides this fall.
