It's a perfect fall harvest day in rural Bluffton and Ada. Here is a soybean field being harvest on Friday. The field is on the County Line Road between Lincoln Highway and U.S. Route 30.

Bluffton University also recognizes Michael Stulman, Michele Durand and Scott Bergman during homecoming

Richard Ramseyer of Bluffton will receive the Lifetime Service Award from Bluffton University during this weekend’s homecoming activities.

He is one of four alumni to be recognized by the university. Other honorees are Michael Stulman, Michele Durand and Scott Bergman.

Interstate 75 reconstruction and widening through Findlay

The following impacts to traffic related to the reconstruction and widening of Interstate 75 through Findlay and Hancock County are scheduled to occur:

Oct. 15 - Lima Avenue under U.S. 68/state Route 15 will close for approximately one year

Early November -Entrance ramp from U.S. 68/state Route 15 to Interstate 75 southbound to close for one year

Trick-or-treat night Oct. 25; fall leaf pick up starts Oct. 29

Bluffton council set several committee meetings for October. The schedule follows. All meetings are in the town hall.

• Monday, Oct. 15, Utilities committee, manhole bid reviews, 1 p.m.
• Monday, Oct. 15, Parks and recreation, 2019 Johnny Appleseed grant program, 7:30 p.m.
• Monday, Oct. 15, Ordinance committee, 8:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 18, Finance committee, 2019 police department budget, noon
• Monday, Oct. 22 – Council as a whole, village website discussion, 6:30 p.m.

On U.S. Route 68 south of Kenton

FROM ADA ICON - History buffs and artists will be especially interested in the public unveiling of a painting on a barn in Hardin County. Scott Hagan, the man who painted each of the 88 Ohio Bicentennial barns, is completing one of Jacob Parrott, the first Medal of Honor recipient in the U.S. for his service in the Civil War.

The unveiling will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday on a barn owned by Arthur and Charlene Bingham at 19691 US 68 south of Kenton.  The barn is located two miles north of the Hardin-Logan County line.
