Despite the dreary, cold weather on Saturday, Oct. 18, the Bluffton Pirate girls' and boys' cross country teams performed well.

The meet took place at Ottawa Park. Jacob Barnett was the lone regional qualifier for the boys’ team. The girls’ team captured 4th place, moving them on to the regional tournament at Tiffin on Oct. 25.
Twenty area pastors and 58 parishioners, who reside at Maple Crest, gathered for a banquet on Oct. 16.

“This annual banquet is provided to honor the ministries of area pastors who visit and minister to their parishioners not only in the church, but in whatever places their parishioners call home,” according to Doug Luginbill, Director of Church Relations.

Saturday night Bluffton Pirates welcomed Western Reserve Academy to Harmon Field. After a 1-7 start Bluffton earned a big win - with suprising ease - with unified team effort against Western Reserve who was 5-1 before this game. BHS won 61-13.
Western Reserve Academy showed that could run the ball early in the 1st quarter with a 4 yard touchdown run. Point after kick was good 7-0 Western Reserve lead.
Former Bluffton resident, David Gillett, 78, died on Oct. 16, 2014. He was the previous owner of Gillett's Bakery on North Main Street Bluffton. Services are at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Carmel Lutheran Church, Carmel, Ind., Arrangements are handled by Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
