Good bye winter sports. Hello spring sports. Junior high track conditioning started this week. Over 35 junior high boys and girls are involved in pre-track conditioning. This week that involved running around the middle school block for seven minutes, then taking a  walking break, next run around the block eight minutes and take a break, and then 10 minutes and a break.

This week’s four Bluffton third graders are Tony Mathewson (Mrs. Bogart’s class), Ella Cunningham (Mrs. Kingsley), Madison Sampson (Mr. Armstrong), and Anna Davies (Mrs. Raeburn).

During our introductions, Anna informed me that both her grandmothers are named Nancy.

Bluffton High School track standout Kendra Bassitt, a senior at Ashland University, competed at the Division II Indoor Track and Field Nationals in Birmingham, Alabama on March 9.

She placed 4th in the nation in the pentathlon recording the following:
• High jump (5'7 3/4") 
• Hhot put (37-2 1/2)

Last year she finished 11th.

Bluffton's Relay for Life will hold a "quarter auction," at the Blufffton Middle School cafetorium on Friday, March 15, according to Lynda Best. The event is from 6 to 9 p.m.

The auction includes:
• Pampered Chef
• Origami Owl
• Mary Kay
• Thirty-One
• Celebrating Home
• Pink Zebra and
• Tastefully Simple, who will each have items on display and will donate items for the auction.

The final mid-week service of the Lenten season will be held at 7 p.m. on March 20 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera. 

Pastor John Merseth of Grace Lutheran Church, Weston, will speak on "Names of Wondrous Love--The Way".  The Choir will sing "Jesus Wept". 

A light supper will be served between 5:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m..  Everyone is welcome and the church is handicapped accessible.

Cleora Skinner, 97, died March 14, 2013 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
