Bluffton students spent time with children in south Texas during their cross-cultural experience in San Antonio.

From poverty and immigration to service and language, cross-cultural experiences from last spring left Bluffton University students with eye-opening memories.

Recounting some of them at two campus forums on Sept. 27 were nearly 20 of the 146 Bluffton students whose experiences took them in May and June either to Bolivia, Botswana, Chicago, China, France, Paraguay, San Antonio or Trinidad.

The group that went to San Antonio, and south to the Mexican border, had a "life-changing" experience, said Chalsi Eastman, a senior from Norwalk, Ohio.

Dr. Earl Lehman's recent death drew our attention to this photo. It is an early 1950s-era Bluffton High School operetta. Lehman, in the front center, was the director.

We see many familar faces here. For example: Dick Boehr on drums, Ada May Oyer on bass, Wilma Jean Jorg on piano, and, yes, Sam Diller on the stage.

After several technical delays Bluffton's North Dixie Highway annexation has finally landed on the Allen County Commissioner's lap.

The commissioners plan a hearing on the matter at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the third floor of the Allen County Court House.

The annexation process has not be a smooth one due to the techical delays and objections of somes residents in the area under consideration.

October is a busy month for the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. Here are some of the activities planned. The monthly dinner meeting is at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 10, catered by the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church.
