First, let me apologize for the slow communication. Wireless Internet is hard to come by in the hinterlands of Australia, and that's where we've been lately. I'll probably be back in the States before I'm able to send my next report. But here's what's been happening since my last communiqu'e:
Geraldine Bucher, 93 died at 1:10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton.
The scenery at the corner of Garau and Harmon changes every day as the construction at the Bluffton Hospital continues. Here's a view of brickwork going up along Harmon Road.
Bluffton First United Methodist Church, 116 Church St., will hold its annual election day meal on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Lunch will be served from11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the menu consists of homemade soups ($2), sandwiches ($2), salads (75 cents), desserts ($1.50), and beverages (50 cents).
Dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 10 and under. The dinner consists of baked steak, escalloped potatoes, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage.
The lights are on! Bluffton Child Development Center celebrated lights on yesterday. The national recognition event stresses the importance of centers like BCDC that serve youth after school. Fred Rodabaugh, Bluffton mayor, read a brief proclamation and then students at the Center released yellow balloons as a send off.
