The Bluffton University men's and women's cross country teams opened their season this weekend at the ONU Invitational on the campus of Ohio Northern University.

Sloppy play dominated the 1st half of play for Bluffton and Carey Friday night. Carey's triple option attack dominated the second.
Carey racked up a total of 298 yards on the ground compared to only 122 total yards for Bluffton leading Carey to a 26-0 win over the Pirates.
Bluffton's 1st drive started in Carey territory but would end after a dropped touchdown pass and a muffed snap on a field goal attempt. This would end up being the Pirates closest they would come to scoring on the night.

The Bluffton High School boys' soccer team defeated Ada last week at Steinmetz Field 3-1. Here are some photos of the game by Vicki Garmon.

Here's a photo of the First Mennonite Church float at the Bluffton centennial (1961) parade. The float depicted two families - one a Bluffton pioneer family, portrayed by the Richard and Wanda Pannabecker family on the right, and, the second, by a modern family, portrayed by the Fred and Mary Amstutz family, on the left.

Dr. Melissa Friesen, associate professor and chair of theatre and communication at Bluffton University, will discuss "Where Community Happens: Practicing Community-Based Theatre" at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Bluffton's Centennial Hall.
The first colloquium of the academic year on campus, the presentation is free and open to the public.
