The Bluffton University softball season came to an abrupt end on Saturday, May 5, at Anderson University after the Beavers dropped an elimination game of the HCAC Tournament to Manchester, 6-2. The Beavers ended the season with a 26-17 overall record.

American flags are again waving in the wind on Main Street, Bluffton, for this summer 2012. The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. (Sharing Hopes And Nourishing Needs Of Neighbors) Service Club of Bluffton, in conjunction with the Village of Bluffton and the American Legion, invites persons to sponsor a flag.

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, you must register by 5 p.m. on May 21 by calling 419-384-3905 and giving your name and phone number.

Boxes will be available for pickup on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church located on State Route 12.

Five Bluffton Middle School students participated at the State Science Fair in Columbus on May 5. Two students earned superior ratings and three earned excellent ratings, Dave Bracy, science teacher, told The Icon.

Brielle Hamilton and Elizabeth Nisly earned a superior rating with Brielle also earning the Ohio University Physics and Astronomy Young Scientist Award worth $50.

Earning Excellent awards was Sara Bertka, Joel Siefker, and Sam Crisp.
