Elizabeth P. "Liz" Leightner, age 86, went to see Jesus at 1:25 am Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.

Liz was born January 17, 1935 at home in Pandora, OH, to the late J.H. and Metta (Welty) Probst. On June 19, 1978 she married the love of her life, Wesley A. "Wes" Leightner.

Really, Fredrik Backman's 2019 novel, Anxious People (Thorndike Press, ISBN-13: 978-1-4328-7971-6), translated from the Swedish by Neil Smith, is about the ridiculousness in all of our lives. It's about how humor is the only safe guide to a pathway clear of the clay-more mines that lie in wait for those who love somebody, someone who has emotions too, emotions sometimes so like our own it's hard to differentiate between the two. Especially so on New Years eve.

Alice E. Bucher, age 105, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 4:40 AM at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on August 14, 1916 in Lima, Ohio to the late Harry W. and Mary Alice (Dinan) Thompson. On September 12, 1936 Alice married A. Dale Bucher and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1995.

Host Bluffton blew out local non-league rival Cory-Rawson 75-0 Friday night to open the 2021 season in impressive fashion at Harmon Field.    

The convincing victory upped the Bluffton record to 1-0, while C-R fell to 0-1 with their second loss in as many games to the Pirates.

Bluffton beat winless C-R 50-14 in the 2020 season finale.

The Pirates stung C-R with a 24-0 lead after one period of play, and increased the margin to 54-0 by halftime with a 30-point outburst in the second stanza.
