The Blanchard Valley Hospital Laboratory has received its annual certification to perform alcohol testing for legal purposes from the Ohio Department of Health Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Testing.
Test results supplied by the BVH Lab can be used as evidence in court cases like those that take place in Hancock County and surrounding counties.
Dr. Crystal Sellers, assistant professor of music, will present "From Congregational to Urban Crossover: The Faces and Sounds of Gospel Music," 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall as part of Bluffton University's Friday Colloquium Series. The event is free and open to the public.
Sellers' presentation will discuss gospel music and gospel singing from the creation of the style to the present. Many popular gospel composers and singers will be presented.

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library are holding a membership drive during the month of February. With a current roster of 13 active members, the Friends want to increase support for the Bluffton Public Library.
Local residents and library patrons can join the Friends by making an annual donation of $5 or more. Friends can also assist with special events, fundraising and everyday library activities.

Beth Boehr, founder of Beyond Budgeting, is sponsoring a "Leaving a Love Legacy" twice in February at the Bluffton Public Library. The sessions are Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 2-4 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 18, from 6-8 p.m.
During the two-hour workshop, Boehr plans to help individuals and couples by teaching them simple steps to organizing their important paperwork and documents so they can be easily located by their family in case of an emergency.
In addition, she will also be available to answer questions and share other tools and information with attendees.

This year Troop 8 has been working on creating a healthy after school cookbook. At every GS meeting, the Troop, has been cooking and devouring some healthy snacks. So to kickoff the beginning of selling our cookbook, Troop 8 will be cooking a Chili dinner that will be sold at Common Grounds this Friday. (Jan. 29).

The Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee has announced a new entertainment option for the community.
"We will be hosting a monthly concert series in the newly renovated third floor of the town hall," said Wendy Chappell-Dick, of the committee. "Opening the series is the Alaska String Band, on tour through the United States. This family bluegrass band will play Monday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m."
Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs will host an evening seminar "Selling Made Simple," according to John Bauer, executive director of BCE.
The seminar is from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, in Room 113 of Centennial Hall, Bluffton University. There is no charge to attend.
Deb Peters, certified networking guru, and sales training expert, will present the seminar.
