The Bluffton University women's basketball team was defeated 83-62 by Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday, December 29 in the opening round of the Hoops for Hope Tournament. Bluffton's record slipped to 4-6 overall, while Ohio Wesleyan improved to 5-6 for the 2010-11 season.

The Bluffton University men's basketball team dominated Wright St.-Lake during a 100-64 victory in the McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday tournament semi-finals on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. The Beavers hit the century mark for the second consecutive game while improving to 7-3 on the season. The consecutive 100-point outbursts marks only the second time in school history that Bluffton has accomplished the feat with the other a three-game spurt in 1971-72.

In its final meeting of 2010, Stan Schneck, Pandora village administrator presented a cost estimate of $113,502.50 from Poggemeyer Design Group as to re-surfacing the Pandora basketball/tennis courts.

The Ohio State Supreme Court, by a 5-2 decision made on Dec. 28, concluding that Bluffton University's insurance is liable for covering the costs of the March 2, 2007, bus accident in Atlanta.

The story was broke by the Columbus Dispatch.

According to the Dispatch, the decision could mean as much as an additional $21 million for victims of the crash.

Bluffton Public Library's monthly book discussion will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

"A Civil Action" by Jonathan Harr is the selected title for January's discussion. The book discussion will be held at Common Grounds Coffeehouse & Caf'e.Anyone interested in attending is welcome and a month-to-month commitment is not required. Copies of the book are available at the library.
