Bluffton High School athletic physicals for the 2012-13 school year take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 30. Physicals are in the middle school.

Checks should be made payable to the Bluffton Athletic Boosters. Forms must be signed by the athete and parent or guardian

May 6 - Braydan A. Dunlap, son of Chad and Christie Dunlap, Columbus Grove, 20 inches, 7 lbs., 9 oz.

May 7 - Parker Reubin, son of Gerry Lamie and Jessica Dietelbach, Pandora, 10 inches, 6 lbs., 13 oz.

Jean Schumacher

Jean H. Schumacher, 91 of Bluffton died at 3:57 p.m., May 25, 2012 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born April 8, 1921, in Berne, Indiana to William and Lillie (Moser) Habegger. On July 2, 1944, she married Emerson Basinger and he died August 28, 1982. She then married Nelson Schumacher December 27, 1985 and he died December 22, 2011.

She was a homemaker and partner in Basinger Builders, Pandora. She was a member of St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. She was a graduate of Berne High School and was an alumna of Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill..

Bluffton Public Library is proud to announce its second annual amateur photo contest. Whether you're an avid or novice photographer or somewhere in between, you are encouraged to participate!

The photo contest, proudly sponsored by Greg's Pharmacy, will award more than $600 in prizes! This year's special feature is a $50 cash prize awarded for the best night scene in addition to two new youth categories, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for all age categories (adult, high school and youth).

Riley Creek Singers, a community theatre group based in Pandora, announced plans for their ninth staged production this summer. Brigadoon will come to life at the Pandora-Gilboa school auditeria on Aug. 10-12.

Kevin Augsburger will again be the stage director for Riley Creek Singers. He is inviting all area actors to audition for Brigadoon on Monday and Tuesday, June 4 or June 5 from 7-9 p.m. at the Pandora-Gilboa auditeria. Rehearsals will begin June 18.

Chicken barbecue at 11:30 a.m.
After the Memorial Day ceremonies, The Bluffton American Legion Post 382, will be serving a carryout barbecue chicken dinner at the Citizens National Bank Parking lot from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the Bluffton farmers' market Saturday, May 26, and from post members.

Bluffton High School track teams managed an outstanding weekend. At the Tiffin Division III regional meet the girls team scored 52 points to finish in second place. The girls team took two first places and two second places. The girls team won the district meet last weekend. The boys scored 31 points to finish 8th.

Get out the swim trunks. The Bluffton Community Swimming Pool will be open Memorial Day weekend: Saturday through Monday- weather permitting (and it looks like it will).

It will then open for the season on Thursday, May 31. The hours are Monday through Friday: 1-5 p.m., Lap Swim 5-6 p.m., open 6-9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.

Nine members of the Bluffton High School class of 2012 were named class valedictorians.

Those students are: Hannah Chappell-Dick, Michael Liska, Lindsey Sneary, Ashlin Gable, Abbey Rieman, Taylor Steele, Lucas Harnish, Halle Steingass and Jayne Sycks.

Class salutatorian is Kallen Terry.

The Bluffton High School 2012 commencement is at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 26, at Bluffton High School.
