Charles W. Binkley, 83, died at 9:43 a.m. Jan. 27, 2013 at Richland Manor, Bluffton. He was born April 17, 1929, in Lima to the late William and Mary (Fleming) Binkley. On Oct. 3, 1958, he married M. Aileen Diller and she survives.
Mr. Binkley retired from Phillips Corporation, Ottawa. He was a member of the Pandora Church of Christ. Survivors also include a sister-in-law Lucille Binkley of Lima and several nieces and nephews.

The Bluffton women looked to answer Wednesday’s loss at Earlham with a Saturday win on January 26 as they welcomed Franklin College to the Sommer Center, but the Grizzlies held off a late Bluffton comeback attempt to nail down a 61-50 victory on Hall of Fame Day.
The Bluffton University men’s basketball team defeated Franklin College, 72-69, on Saturday, Jan. 26, showing off in front of the Alumni Day and Hall of Fame crowd. Bluffton improved to 9-10 overall and 5-7 in the Heartland Conference with its fifth victory in the last six games. Franklin fell to 11-8 overall and 6-6 in the HCAC.
Junior Will Pope (Somerville/Preble Shawnee) made a layup to tie the score up at four just over two mintues into the game. Franklin went back ahead before Pope cashed in with another layup to tie the game at six.

Vera A. Higgins, 94 died at 7:05 a.m. Jan. 27, 2013 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
Bluffton P.T.O.'s annual "Bakery Bingo" event is Saturday, Jan. 26, from 6-8 p.m. in the middle school cafetorium.
"There will be lots of family fun, including Bingo games for a chance to win delicious baked goods," Allison Mittendorf of the PTO, told The Icon.
"Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle and basket raffles thanks to the generosity of local businesses and parent donations. Food concessions will also be available.
Bluffton resident Bill Swartley is the guest speaker at the noon, Tuesday, Feb. 5, Bluffton Lions Club meeting. The meeting is in the Patio Room of Maple Crest.
Swartley, a nurse anesthetist, will talk about his experiences involving medical missions to the Dominican Republic. Since 1998, Swartley has participated in 17 trips as a member of a surgical team with Medical Ministry International.
