Single-event tickets for Artist Series available July 20

Single-event tickets go on sale Saturday, July 20, for the 2013-14 Bluffton University Artist Series, featuring the Golden Dragon Acrobats, pianist Hyperion Knight, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, the band Lone Raven and ventriloquist Lynn Trefzger.

Bluffton Public Library's Edible Book contest registrations will be accepted until July 12, according to Cindi Chasse, library administrator.  

Entry categories include:
• preschool through grade 5,
• grade 6 through 12,
• adult and
• professional. 

Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. on July 25 and then guests will be invited to “dig in” and taste the entries. The contest is hosted in partnership with Bluffton University Musselman Library, and is free and open to the public.

The Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton, will hold an ice cream social - homemade food dinner from 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 19, at the church. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for youth 10 and under.

Several activities take place at Maple Crest Senior Living Community in July. The Maple Crest activities calendar is now on the Icon for viewers to read.

The July worship schedule for Mennonite Memorial Home was recently announced, It follows:

Bluffton is in need of a Junior High Volleyball Coach.  Anyone interested should contact Alex Hanna, [email protected] or call 419-358-5901.

On Wednesday, July 24, will be a Player/Parent meeting for all Junior High and High School Fall Athletes at Bluffton. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the high school gym.

Richland Manor, 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton, will hold a summer ice cream social at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 18.

The event is free and open to the public. In addition to ice cream there will be live entertainment from the Hallalujah Saints Band.

Mennonite Memorial Home residents will celebrate life on the farm on Thursday, July 25. The special farm day event includes morning and afternoon activities related to farming. 

At 6:30 p.m. there will be a display of various farm animals  brought by area 4-H clubs for residents to enjoy.

Riley Creek Baptist Church, 4950 Township Road 27, Bluffton, offers four "Summer Blasts!" for youth in Kindergarten through sixth grade this summer.

The "blasts" are Friday, July 12, July 19, July 26 and Aug. 2. The events are from 2 to 7 p.m. with supper includes plus games, crafts and field trips.

Mustard Seed Cafe, North Main Street, Bluffton, is closed for vacation from Tuesday to Tuesday, July 2 to 9, according to its owners.

The cafe will reopen on Wednesday, July 10.
