Loyd W. Agin, age 83, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 6:40 pm at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born on August 11, 1930 in Ada, Ohio to Elmer Loyd and Mary Susan (Wherry) Agin and they preceded him in death. On August 4, 1961 he married Mary Beatrice "Bea" Griffith and she survives in Ada.

Loyd previously worked for Buckeye Pipeline. He worked at McCurdy Steel Product where he designed and built grain elevators. He retired from Ford Motor Company Lima Engine Plant where he worked as a welder in skilled trades.

-A Bluffton Resident reported that a juvenile on Garmatter St. was refusing to return their property.

-Officers responded to the Bluffton Post Office in response to an irate customer.
-A Spring St. Resident reported bicycles were stolen from their residence.  

The Pandora United Methodist Church will be hosting a free community meal on Wednesday, September 25,  from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora.

The meal this month is provided by the Rebecca Circle and will be Ham, potatoes, green beans,dessert and beverage.

All are welcome.

The next American Red Cross blood drive in Bluffton will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, from noon until 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the Large Room, located at 160 N. Spring Street.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

This week Mustard Seed Café, 562 N. Main St., Bluffton, announces new hours. During the week the café will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed Tuesdays). On Saturday and Sunday, hours will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, a new fall menu will be offered, including fresh autumn produce, old favorites and the signature house-made baked goods. 

In October Mustard Seed will open for dinner.  Watch for Friday and Saturday evening hours.

Dr. Wanda Elizabeth McDowell, 91, died  Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. She was at the forefront of modern nursing research and studies in pain management. Her career in education started at Bluffton College, (1939-41) followed by St. Luke’s School of Nursing, Cleveland, (1944), and The Ohio State University (1953-1962) where she  received  Bachelor degrees in Science and Nursing, Master Degrees in Guidance and Counseling, and a Ph.D in Psychology.

Apollo Career Center programs that offer services to the public will soon be opening. These programs offer students hands-on experience in customer service in addition to the industry skills  needed for their career fields.

The Floral Design shop will open Sept. 17, 8-10:30 a.m, and 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday-Friday. The shop, fully stocked with student-created arrangements, is full of seasonal and all occasion silk, dried and fresh flower creations. For more information please call 419.998.2934.

The Bluffton Beaver women's soccer team traveled to Circleville, Ohio, to take on the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013. The Beavers were able to play extremely well in all facets of the game while posting a 6-0 victory and improving to 2-1 this season.

Area residents and businesses are invited to the Customer Appreciation Day celebration on Friday, Sept. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Bluffton office located at 102 S. Main St.  Free pulled pork sandwiches, brats, chips and cookies will be served. Attendees may also enter to win a grand prize tailgate package.

The celebration is a way for Citizens National Bank to thank its customers for their contribution to the bank's success.

Bluffton High School girls' soccer team won its fifth game of the season on a lone goal by Sarah Theisen against Upper Sandusky on Sept. 12.
