Today Governor John R. Kasich authorized use of State Disaster Relief funds to assist the Villages of Cloverdale (Putnam Co.) and Jerry City (Wood Co.) as they continue to recover from the severe storms and tornadoes that impacted Ohio on November 17, 2013.

Stella Crown, the creation of Pandora writer Judy Clemens, is at it again. 

And if you don't know Stella, The Boston Globe calls her "A quirky, tough female protagonist with a soft center."

Clemens, author of the Stella Crown and Grim Reaper Mystery Series, has just released “Leave Tomorrow Behind,” the latest in her Stella Crown mystery series. The book is published by Poisoned Pen Press.

Bluffton has its own cartoonist. Though not nationally syndicated, Maia Woods-Yee, Bluffton High School senior, creates lots of cartoons using the anime style, popular in a series that tells a story.

Woods-Yee is enrolled in a Design II art class where she works on some of her cartoons. And, she works on these computer-generated pieces outside of school hours, too.

She first creates an outline of the single-frame cartoon and then works to fill it in. Some of her cartoons are in color; others are black and white.

The December Bluffton Senior Citizens dinner meeting, sponsored by Richland Manor, is free to members. The meeting is at at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 9, at the center, 132 N. Main St. Tickets must be reseerved by Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Two community meals are planned in December at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St., Bluffton.

Meals are Thursday, Dec. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 19. St. Mary's Catholic Church is host to the Dec. 5 meal. Trinity United Methodist, Jenera, will host the Dec. 19 meal.

Meals are free and open to the public. Any monetary donation goes to the Bluffton food pantry.

Ten Thousand Villages offers Icon viewers a Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29-30 sale only, according to Aphaphanh Nussbaum, manager.

On Nov. 29 and 30 you may buy your first jewelry or accessories items and get the next one at 50 percent off.

 

The Icon talked with Santa Claus, during his downtown Bluffton visit on Saturday. We  discussed everything starting from Dec. 26 all the way to Dec. 25. By the way, Santa has a facebook page and may be found on LinkedIn. Here's a small portion of our talk.

By reindeer. But, you need to know that reindeer only fly on Christmas Eve.

Tammy Grigsby, Randy Spallinger, Rick Hermiller, Jay Stratton, Bev Stockman and "I Am Coyote," don't need to buy their turkey or ham for Thanksgiving this year.

According to Derek Dukes of Southgate Lanes, those were the bowler in each league who had the most pins over average in Southgate's annual Thanksgiving turkey shoot.
