The Bluffton Release Time/Weekday Christian Education (RT/WCE) classes were introduced in the fall of 1924. The first teacher was Miss Ruth Yoder who had training and a master’s degree in religious education. She taught in the classroom for the grade school children at Bluffton.
“Evidence,” an installation of conceptual art by William Bass, will kick off the 2014-15 schedule in Bluffton University’s Grace Albrecht Gallery, located in the Sauder Visual Arts Center.
Opening August 25, the exhibit is free and open to the public through September 21. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A reception for Bass will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, September 7.
Saxophonist Chelsey Parker will present her Bluffton University senior recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, in Yoder Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
The Pandora United Methodist Church will be hosting a free community meal on Wednesday, August 27 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora.
The meal this month is provided by the Mission Committee. The menu will be hamburger/hot dog, potato salad, chips, brownie and beverage.
Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton, invites the public to its annual community “Concert on the Lawn,” at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17.
The evening includes a free concert featuring the music of Bob Ford, a musician from Cedarville. He will share his musical talent and storytelling. Persons attending are invited to bring a lawn chair.

Ten Thousand Villages, S. Main St., Bluffton, is offering customers a "gem of a jewelry sale," now through Monday, Aug. 18, according to Aphaphanh Nussbaum, store manager.
She says that the shop offers up to 40 percent off selected jewelry and accessories in this sale.
