J. Norman Vercler died at 9:30 a.m. March 27, 2015, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He had been a resident of Bluffton for 58 years.
He was born March 14, 1925, in Meadows, Ill., to the late Elmer and Naomi (Claudon) Vercler. He graduated from Chenoa High School and went on for further studies at Illinois State Normal University where he majored in science. After graduation, he began work at Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington as head medical technician, a position he held until 1956.

The moneys raised benefit both organizations. The cost of the meal is $6 per person pre-sale tickets, $7 per person at the door, children 5 and under eat free with an adult.
The Easter Bunny is coming to Bluffton on Saturday.
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) and Jerry Lewis’ McDonald’s will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. sharp, Saturday, March 28, at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.
The Easter egg hunt will take place come rain or shine. There will be no rain date.
Children ages 8 and under are invited to come, hunt for hidden eggs, register for prizes, gift baskets and have their parents take their pictures with the Easter Bunny.
The Ohio Northern University student chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) captured seventh place at the SAE Aero Design East competition in Lakeland, Fla., from March 13-15.
The advisor for the group was Dr. Jed E. Marquart, Bluffton, professor of mechanical engineering at ONU.
The ONU team, nicknamed the “Bad News Bears,” participated in the “Regular Class” of the competition and competed among a field of 37 teams in the “Regular Class,” including national championship teams from Brazil, Canada, Puerto Rico, India, and Poland.

St. John's United Church of Christ will hold a beef and noodle dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, April 24. The church is located at 223 W. College Ave.
