Retired as part manager from Wagner Buick-Nissan

Wallace “Wally” Dale Basinger, 90, died on Jan. 29, 2019, at his home in Pandora. Wally was born May 20, 1928, in Riley Township, Putnam County, Ohio, to the late Homer and Ella (Badertscher) Basinger. On June 6, 1954, he married Mary Jo Hitchcock and she passed away on Feb. 16, 1963.  On April 2, 1965, he married Joan Montgomery and she preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 2014. 

Pickup will resume next week on its regular schedule

Due to the low temperatures Republic Services, Bluffton refuse hauler, has  announced trash pick-up for the rest of this week has been canceled.

Republic will resume normal service next week, according to Bryan Lloyd, assistant village administrator.

2019-20 Bluffton Community Preschool registration begins Feb. 1

Bluffton’s 3- and 4-year-old youngsters need to remind their parents to enroll them now in Bluffton Community Preschool for the 2019-20 school year.

According to Christine Clymer, preschool board president, several class options are available.

Morning classes are from 8:05 to 10:45 a.m. Afternoon classes are from 12:05 to 2:45 p.m. Those options offer classes either two days each week, or three days each week.

Several special menu prices available during the day

Campito Lindo, 142 N. Main St., will celebrate its second year in business with several dinner specials on its Saturday, Feb. 2, menu, according to Rosalia Banales, co-owner. Her co-owner partner is Enrique Cabrera.

The Main Street Mexican restaurant opened in February 2017. Campito Lindo translates to English as “A Small Beautiful Town,” which according to the owners, reflects on Bluffton.

Banales said that the restaurant has gained a following from Bluffton and surround communities including Findlay, Ottawa, Lima, Ada and St. Marys.

(BLUFFTON) – Luke Denecker erupted for 19 second half points in a 65-50 boys basketball triumph over McComb Tuesday night.  Mason Soper notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Jared Piercefield was the third Pirate in double figures with 12 points. Bluffton improved to 12-4 on the season while McComb fell to 4-8.

Bluffton University canceled all classes and all event for Wednesday, Jan. 30, according to its Facebook.

With safety being a priority, all Bluffton University events (classes, all practices and athletics events) are canceled for Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Marbeck Center and The Commons will be open during regular hours for food service. All other buildings, including the Library, Sommer Center and the LRC will be closed. Students are advised to stay in their residence halls for their safety.

Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will hold their first meeting of the year at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Bluffton Public Library.
