Nov. 30 - Bryson Howard, son of Zak and Amber Beltz, Roundhead.

Dec. 5 - Lux Antonio, son of Tony and Sydney Schroeder, Ottawa.

Dec. 7 - Lena Florence, daughter of Justin and Melissa Ricker, Columbus Grove.

Dec. 9 - Elizabeth Jane, daughter of Daniel and Barbara Kirk, Mount Cory.

Dec. 9 - Olive Elsie, daughter of Victor Lomeli and Mercedes Young, Leipsic.

Dec. 9 - Landry James, son of James Robinson and Dawnell Laymon, Forest.

School is back in session and January is full of activites. Here’s some of the event in January on the Bluffton High School website:

Drama Club spring auditions: Students interested in trying out for the spring play need to pick up information outside of the choir room this week. Audition  are Monday Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. 

Red Cross bood drive: A Red Cross bood drive is Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the high school gym.

Was volunteer chair for "Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk" in Dayton

Amy J. Gallant Linaberry, 48 of Kettering, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020,at her home after a courageous eight year battle with breast cancer. She was born Oct. 2, 1971 in Bluffton, Ohio, to Darryl and Marcia (Boutwell) Gallant. Amy married Matthew Linaberry on Oct. 20, 2012, in Kettering.

Amy graduated from Bluffton High School in 1990. She graduated from Lima Technical College in 1993 with a degree in Early Education and graduated in 2006 from Wright State University with a degree in Social Work.  

While a generation of Et Cetera Shop shoppers will remember Glennys Henry as a long-time volunteer, an earlier generation of Bluffton youth, now adults, will remember her as an elementary teacher.

She died Jan. 4, just shy of her 95th birthday. CLICK HERE for Glennys' obituary.

Glennys was passionate about helping those in need and giving of her time as often as possible, regardless of the cause.  

Wednesday afternoon memorial service

Retired Blufton school teacher Glennys Alene Henry, died on Jan. 4, 2020, due to age related complications, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, just one week shy of her 95th birthday.

The youngest of four children, she was born at the home farm eight miles from Moundridge, Kan., to Christian D. and Reina Wedel Kaufman. Preceding her in death were her siblings Orlo, Elva, and Tilmar.

Today's (Monday, Jan. 6) recycling route will be picked up on Tuesday, according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator.

Berne, Ind. - The Bluffton Swim Club competed at the South Adams Invitational meet Saturday at South Adams High School in Berne, Indiana. 

Freshman Riley Verb won the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke races to lead BSC.

The Bluffton girls swimmers finished sixth out of eight schools, while the BSC boys came in fifth. In the combined team standings, Bluffton ended up sixth.

Allison Diller came in fourth in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 breaststroke to post the top Bluffton girls individual finishes.

Pirates give Titans its closest game of the season

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton lost a tough 47-41 verdict to Western Buckeye League perennial power Ottawa-Glandorf before a sellout crowd in a non-league battle of undefeated teams Saturday night.

Bluffton led 6-5 after a low-scoring first period. O-G edged in front 17-15 at intermission. The Titans built a 30-23 lead with a 13-8 third period.

BHS pulled within 4 points at 45 to 41 with 17 seconds to go, but was unable to close the gap.

Elida snaps Pirate girls win streak with late run

BLUFFTON - Visiting Elida outscored Bluffton 14-6 in the fourth period to win a 53-46 non-conference girls basketball battle Saturday afternoon.

Bluffton led 14-7 after one period of play, yet Elida roared back to tie it 30-30 with a 23-point second quarter outburst. The Pirate girls inched back in front 40-39 heading to the final stanza, but they went ice cold with just two baskets and a foul shot in the last period. 

Bluffton sports fans will honor the 1999-2000 Bluffton High School Division III state runners-up girls' basketball team on Saturday, Feb. 1. The 20-year recognition takes place during the halftime – approximately 7:30 p.m. – of the BHS boys' versus Pandora-Gilboa basketball game.
