Rowena Zuercher ’20, a social work and Spanish double major from Apple Creek, Ohio, will share about her Summer Discovery Grant internship experience at Lighthouse Ministries in Canton, Ohio, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, in Musselman Library’s Reading Room.
During her presentation, Zuercher will explore the ethics of social work across the life cycle. She will describe social work as a profession, including its history and code of ethics, and then relate this to her summer internship, as well as her current social work internship.

VAN BUREN - The Bluffton wrestling team finished a strong second out of 13 teams at the Van Buren Div. III sectional meet Friday and Saturday.
Carey won the tournament with 178.5 points while the Pirates tied with Elmwood for second, scoring 146 points. They nosed out host VB in fourth with 145 points.
A top-four finish at sectionals qualifies any wrestler to the district event in Napoleon March 6-7.

Larry Lynn Beemer, 77, died March 2, 2020, at his residence. Larry was born July 24, 1942, in Beaverdam to the late Roy and Florence (Walters) Beemer. On March 19, 1980, he married Carolyn (Taylor) Beemer who survives.
Larry graduated from Beaverdam High School and then served in the United States Army. He retired from Airfoil Textron in Lima and then worked at Greto Trucking in Lima.
The Bluffton HS string orchestra received an excellent rating at OMEA state orchestra adjudicated event held on Friday, Feb. 28 at Whitmer HS in Toledo.
The orchestra performed ‘A Renaissance Fair’ arranged by Ann McGinty, ‘Midnight Rain’ by Susan Day and ‘Danse Infernale’ by Elliot del Borgo.
The 24-member orchestra is under the direction of Rachael E. Lewis and assisted by Debb Herr.
In honor of Student Art Month, this year’s Student Art Showcase begins with a Launch Party on Thursday, March 5 at 6 p.m.!
Join us for refreshments and check out the creative work from our young community! Students’ artwork will then be on display for the rest of the month. Art teachers from area schools have made art selections for their students and submitted them for this event. A selection of homeschool student art will also be included, as submitted by parents.

Here is a colorized post card from the Ada Public Library collection. On the back side it reads: "Oil wells were in the vicinity of County Road 20 and Tonwship Road 25. One was on the Stober farm in the 1920s."
Oil wells were also drilled in Orange Township and other rural sections around Bluffton. At the height of the oil boom there were 500 oil wells in rural Bluffton and Ada.
When driving on State Route 103 between Bluffton and Arlington, each time you see a brick farmhouse that is a sign that an oil well was drilled on that property.
