Americans spend a significant amount of money each year on hair products and styling.  It has been estimated that over our lifetime, we can spend around $55,000 for hair care.  

ArtSpace/Lima and Downtown Lima have issued an invitation to take a stroll or the trolley through downtown Lima to see ArtWalk 2022 with 22 artists on display. The event will take place from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on September 8.

Artwork will be displayed at 19 locations throughout the downtown area with artists available to talk about their work. Special deals will be available at selected business.

A Celebration of Life for Sally Jeanne (Hogan King) Reeder will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Bluffton Presbyterian Church, 112 N Main Street.

Reeder died April 7, 2022 in her residence at The Springs of Lima, OH.

Guests are invited to "share memories and stories of Sally's full life and perhaps a laugh or two."

VOLLEYBALL WIN AT KENYON

GAMBIER, Ohio–The Bluffton University women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win on the road at Kenyon College on Sept. 7. The Beavers improved to 4-1 on the season following their fourth straight win, while the Owls fell to 0-5.

The Bluffton High School boys soccer squad tied visiting Beavercreek 1-1 Wednesday evening, September 7.

The Pirate record moved to 1-4-1 with the non-league tie.

Alek Davis scored first for Bluffton at the 29:08 mark of the first half. It was the only shot the Pirates were able to get off the entire match, and he made it count.

Beavercreek netted the equalizer with just 4:48 remaining to play.

Pirate keeper Kyle Basil made seven stops in goal. Beavercreek got 12 shots off.

The Bluffton High School girls tennis team defeated visiting Elida 4-1 Wednesday evening. The decisive victory lifted the Pirate dual record to 2-6 this fall.

Junior Brooke Camper of Bluffton won in straight sets at first singles by a 7-5, 6-0 count over Bulldog senior Ava Long.

Sophomore Rory Youngpeter won at second singles over freshman Ellen Troyer 6-4, 6-2.

Sophomore Ava McComey won at third singles 6-1, 6-1 over senior Cheyenne Pack.

Online and In-School Education Boosting Number of New OHSAA Officials

COLUMBUS–Facing a growing shortage of interscholastic sports officials across Ohio, the Ohio High School Athletic Association has moved all classroom instruction for new officials to the convenient virtual platform RefPrep and is also asking member schools to offer the online officiating curriculum during the school day for students to begin the process of becoming a licensed official. A number of schools across Ohio have already begun offering the RefPrep class.

Dr. Rob Alexander, the Wilfred Binkley endowed professor of political science and director of the Institute for Civics and Public Policy at Ohio Northern University, will present the Forum “The Ever-Controversial Electoral College,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Yoder Recital Hall.

In this Forum, Alexander examines how the Electoral College has changed over the years and what we might expect for its future given the constitutional crisis created in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

Jan and Paula (Brodman) Kibele of Bluffton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on September 9, 2022.

They were married on September 9, 1972 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bluffton, Ohio.

The couple has four children: Dawn (Michael) Ballinger, Leif (Maria) Kibele, Holly (Doug) George and Chelsea (Jimmy Hovest) Kibele; and 10 grandchildren: Tecumseh, Sumner, Maddox, Colt, Elliot, Gavin, Trey, Tanner, Truett and Thea

Jan is retired from the Ford-Lima Engine Plant and Paula is retired from Bluffton Hospital.

Larry Joe VanAtta, 67, passed away August 17, 2022 in Findlay.

His Celebration of Life has been postponed for a date that is to be determined.
