FROM BPL UPDATES__The Bluffton Public Library is looking for people who want to showcase their collections or highlight a cause in the display case next to the front desk.
Show off what you collect, create or are passionate about or help provide awareness or resources for others in the community. The library staff can provide more information.
The September display featured items found in returned library books. Cat display coming soon in recognition of National Cat Day, October 29.
KALIDA - The Bluffton High School boys and girls cross country teams each finished ninth at the Kalida Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3.
BOYS RESULTS
Van Wert won the 21-team boys meet with 55 points, followed by Crestview (66) and Bryan (86). The Pirates tallied 332 points.
Sophomore Atticus Prothro finished 27th to post the top Pirate showing with a time of 17:35.4. Junior Levin Essinger came in 30th at 17:40.7. Toby Clevidence crossed the line 59th in 18:30.2.
FROM BPL UPDATES__Bluffton Public Library is hosting the ONU Mobile Health Clnic on Thursday, October 8 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program.
This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening). Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.
FROM BPL UPDATES__Join Hannah Warwick at the Bluffton Public Library to paint a 100-year-old piece of slate. Paint a Piece of History: Vintage Slate Painting will be held on Oct. 13 at 6:00 p.m.
Warwick will guide you through the process of painting your own fall-inspired design with acrylic paint on reclaimed, 100-year-old slate. Cost is $20.
This event is open to adults, teens and children with an accompanying adult.
MEDIA RELEASE__The American Library Association's Banned Books Week takes place October 4–10. The theme for 2026 is “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.”
Books on display at Bluffton Public Library will include materials that have been banned in libraries, booksellers and schools across the United States.
