Watching history in the making
No, this scene is not from Bluffton. But at 10:40 a.m. this morning Bluffton residents may have heard applause coming from Ada. The 18,000-pound steeple (9 tons) became a permanent fixture the the Ada First United Methodist Church today. Construction of the building is in process following a fire that destroyed the Ada Main Street landmark. The steeple is now 54 feet above the ground. The top of the cross is 91 feet above the ground. Over 200 persons watched the steeple being raised from ground level on Thursday. The process took about 45 minutes. Watch for videos.
