Bluffton's big bird
It's not Big Bird, but it is a big bird for Bluffton. The great blue heron frequents Riley Creek, as these three photos demonstrate. Mary P. Steiner took these photos with her cell phone as one of the herons took to flight near Spring Street. The largest of the herons can have wing spaces of up to six feet and can cruise at 20 miles per hour.
