ELIDA – The Bluffton High School boys tennis team lost 5-0 at Elida on Tuesday, April 1 as the host Bulldogs swept all 10 sets.

Pirate senior Branson Hilty lost his first singles match 6-1, 6-0.

Junior Grady Coonfare was defeated at second singles by a 7-5, 6-0 count.

Junior Nick Lovett fell at third singles 6-1, 6-1.

The first doubles tandem of senior Jackson Brauen and Isaiah Kohli lost 6-3, 6-2. The Pirate second doubles duo of Hudson Phillips and Levi Antrim was beaten 6-4, 6-3.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School softball team lost its home and season opener to unbeaten local rival Ada 12-1 on Tuesday, April 1.

The Bulldogs out-hit the Pirate girls 12-1 in the run-rule shortened, five-inning contest.

Ada improves to 3-0 with the non-league victory, while Bluffton starts out 0-1.  

Over five innings, Bulldog ace senior hurler Jenna Bassitt struck out six and walked none. She allowed just one hit and one earned run.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School baseball team was victimized by two big innings as they lost to local rival Ada 9-3 in a non-league game on Tuesday evening, April 1. 

Neither team scored in the first three innings of what started out as a pitchers’ duel.

The Bulldogs then scored five runs in the fourth inning, and tallied four more in the fifth, to break open the scoreless battle and build a 9-0 cushion.

Timothy Cooper, 41, of Bluffton, crashed into a N. Dixie Hwy. residence on the morning of March 22 according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Cooper was taken to the hospital and the 2008 Honda Accord he was driving was disabled by front end damage. 

In the incident, Cooper was traveling southwest at an estimated 55 mph, crossed the centerline and hit a home near Lugabill Rd.

The driver was cited with operating a vehicle without reasonable control. An unknown distraction was indicated in the crash report.

Due to the increased threat of severe weather, Allen County EMA will not be administering the monthly test of the 50 Allen County Community Warning Sirens at noon on April 2, 2025, as was scheduled.

The next monthly test of the warning sirens is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at noon.
