Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center will participate in the annual Drug Take Back Initiative from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, offering the community an opportunity to safely dispose of unused or expired medication.
Accepted medications include vitamins, pills and pet medications.
The center cannot accept needles, inhalers, liquids, lotions, aerosols, ointments and creams.
Unwanted or expired medications should never be disposed of in the toilet; it is harmful to the environment.
Bluffton Pirates football cheerleaders placed 2nd at their first cheerleading invitational. They competed on Saturday, October 22 at Perry High School. The squad is coached by Chase Koontz and Stefanie Koontz.
Exceptional Bluffton University alumni are honored each year during Homecoming at the Bluffton University President’s Banquet. This year, Alumni Awards were presented to Kathy (Gaines ’78) Carr for Lifetime Service, and Brandon Freytag ’08 for Outstanding Young Alumni. Three alumni, Ed Smoker ’63, Denny Phillips ’79 and Allison (Lange ’05) Bentley, were inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame.

Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Union Township is celebrating the Sesquicentennial of the construction of their church building in 1872. To commemorate the occasion, the church will hold a special worship service at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 23 and a 1:00 p.m. Sesquicentennial Service of Music and Remembrance followed by the dedication of a Legacy Tree and Commemorative Stones. All are welcome to attend these services.
Football vs. Manchester
Playing at Manchester, the Bluffton University football team kept grinding on Saturday, Oct. 22, and when the dust settled after three overtimes, the Beavers handed Matt Nardo his first victory as a head coach.
Bluffton moved to 1-6 and 1-3 in the Heartland Conference with a 46-44 triple-overtime thriller! Manchester fell to 1-6 and 0-4 in the conference. On Oct. 29 they travel to HCAC-favorite Mount St. Joseph for a 1:30 p.m. start in Cincinnati.
