Bluffton's Blaze of Lights festival and parade for 2022 brought out record crowds and a fantastic assortment of floats including the "elf on the shelf," who it turns out drives a pretty snazzy red sportscar. Many more photos will follow.
In late November 1956 – actually this week 66 years ago, the major topic of residents of the LaFayette and Bluffton area was of a mysterious animal that “cried like a baby and screamed like a woman.”
A front page story in the Bluffton New described the circumstances surrounding this mystery.

On November 26, Bluffton will celebrate the 36th annual Blaze of Lights, a longstanding tradition rooted in the ingenuity and creativity of a local farming couple, Harry and Dorothy Ream. This year’s theme for the float competition and downtown business decorations is “A Candyland Christmas.”
The centerpieces of the Blaze celebrations are a 5:00 p.m. parade and the Ream Folk Art Display lighting ceremony featuring the Town Crier. Please note that from year to year some details change. Below is a listing of activities scheduled for 2022.
