Michael Burdette Emans 1944-2009
Michael B. Emans, 64, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Olympia, Wash. He was born Nov. 1, 1944, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Charles and Virginia Emans. He grew up in Bluffton where he graduated from high school.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968. On Oct. 21, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Elaine L. Naas. They made their home in the Chicago area. They relocated to Olympia in 1977, when Mike began working for the State of Washington in computer and telecommunications management. He retired from the Department of Information Services in 2004.
He was a devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather and friend. His ultimate pleasure was spending time with his family. He enjoyed many hobbies-fishing, camping, playing musical instruments and photography.
He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia. Surviving him are his wife of 42 years, Elaine; children, Eric (Heather) and Todd; father, Charles; brother Greg (Lue), brother Jeff (Alain) and sister JoEllen (Harold) Dudgeon; and grandchildren Gracie and Annie Emans.
A memorial will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Brethren Church, Olympia, Wash. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 218 Overhulse Rd NE, Olympia, 98502 or Providence SoundHomeCare and Hospice, 3432 South Bay Road NE, Olympia, WA 98506.
