Brass quintet Cleveland Brass Works will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16 in Bluffton University’s Yoder Recital Hall. The concert serves as a welcome back for the community after campus was closed to the public during the 2020-21 academic year. Seating is first come, first served and doors will open at 7 p.m. Masks are required inside campus buildings.
Cleveland Brass Works has performed at venues including concert halls, music festivals and corporate events, and provides a unique approach to a brass quintet concert.
Author, local historian and former Bluffton Icon owner Fred Steiner will give a free presentation on Bluffton’s electric trolleys at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15.
According to director Tonya Meyer, the talk is titled “115 years ahead of its time, or what are those rails doing under Main Street?” The presentation will include over 75 Bluffton-related images including photos, maps and timetables.
The Bluffton University women's soccer team improved to 2-1 for the first time since 2015 following a 3-2 victory over Grace Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021. Bluffton went up 3-0 early in the second half and then held off the visitors despite a late penalty kick that made the final score 3-2.
The Bluffton University women's golf team hit the links for the fourth consecutive day when they made the trip to Defiance for the Military Appreciation Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021. A sparkling round of 355 equaled the Beavers for the 2nd-best round in school history. Bluffton came in 2nd, just 14 strokes off the pace of NAIA member Siena Heights University.
