It's melon season at the Bluffton Farmers' Market. You'll likely fine several options on Saturday at the market. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Citizens National Bank parking lot.
Twenty years ago health care choices for seniors who were in need of care were somewhat limited to either a hospital stay or going to a nursing home.
Kathy Rode, a nurse at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, saw that many of them could stay at home with just a little assistance.
“We wanted to offer a third option in the way of home health services, where nurses would make visits in people’s homes to help them recoup after surgeries or if they needed further assistance,” said Rode, who is the founding Director of Mennonite Home Health and Senior Services.
Six faculty members are joining the Bluffton University community this academic year along with more than 20 new staff members and graduate assistants.
New assistant professors for 2015-16 are John Burkhart, in accounting; Rhonda Gottschalk, health, fitness and sport science; Dr. Luke Myers, physics; Marathana Prothro, communication; and Jackie Wyse-Rhodes, religion. Dr. Nancy Banman starts her first full year at Bluffton, meanwhile, after coming to campus last January as an associate professor and chair of social work.
